Regular Season Round 20: Shiga L-Stars - Niigata Albirex 91-92

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Shiga L-Stars (4-16) were edged at home by fourth ranked Niigata Albirex (10-10) 92-91 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 29-23. But Shiga L-Stars won second period 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) saved the victory by scoring 26 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Tenyoku You (194-88) contributed with 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and guard Narito Namizato (172-89) added 24 points in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. Shiga L-Stars' coach Tohyama Kohto rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Niigata Albirex maintains fourth position with 10-10 record. Shiga L-Stars lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 16 games lost. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round. Shiga L-Stars will play again at home against Niigata Albirex (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
