Regular Season Round 12: Impuls BGUIR - Vitebsk 88-96

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Minsk where one of their biggest challengers Impuls BGUIR (5-5) was defeated by fifth ranked Vitebsk (4-7) 96-88 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 31-14 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Vitebsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Ivan Aladko (193-95) who scored 30 points and 7 assists. Forward Ruslan Pishcheyko (190-98) chipped in 8 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Maksim Shustov (188-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and Genadziy Zahar (200-92) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Impuls BGUIR's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vitebsk maintains fifth position with 4-7 record. Impuls BGUIR at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Vitebsk will meet at home Brest (#8) in the next round. Impuls BGUIR will play against GOCOR-Sozh (#9) and hope to secure a win.
