Regular Season Round 20: Nishinomiya S. - Tokyo Z 80-75

The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Tokyo Z's (9-11) road loss to second ranked Nishinomiya S. (15-5) 75-80 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 15-8. But Tokyo Z won second period 21-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nishinomiya S. dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Z's 26 and made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Larry Owens (201-83, college: ORU, agency: Three Eye Sports) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). The other American import guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) chipped in 20 points. Nishinomiya S.'s coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Masuko Takumi (186-91) added 20 points respectively for the guests. Four Tokyo Z players scored in double figures. Nishinomiya S. maintains second position with 15-5 record behind leader Kumamoto V., which they share with Shimane SM. Loser Tokyo Z keeps the third place with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
