Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Castellammare and 11th ranked Pordenone had identical 2-5 record. But Pordenone was not able to use a home court advantage and was outleveled by the opponent from Stabia 69-46 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Castellammare led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Pordenone to an opponent 24.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.7 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Pordenone 52-36 including a 42-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Castellammare looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Pordenone's players. American-Irish forward Fiona O'Dwyer (178-99, college: Emmanuel, MA) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 21 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and guard Maria Ortolani (178-97) chipped in 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was point guard Anna Togliani (168-98) with 13 points and 6 rebounds and guard Alessandra Boccardo (178-98) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Pordenone's coach Renato Nani gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Castellammare maintains ninth place in A2 with 3-5 record. Loser Pordenone keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. Castellammare will face league's second-placed Vicenza at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pordenone will play against Alpo VF (#7) in Verona and hope to win that game.
