Regular Season Round 20: Fukushima - Cyberdyne IR 70-80

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when second-ranked Fukushima (12-7) was defeated at home by third ranked Cyberdyne IR (10-9) 80-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cyberdyne IR. Fukushima was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) who scored 27 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Josei Maniwa (193-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cyberdyne IR maintains third position with 10-9 record having six points less than leader Kumamoto V., which they share with Yamagata. Loser Fukushima keeps the second place with seven games lost. Cyberdyne IR will have a break next round. Fukushima will play again at home against Cyberdyne IR and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
