Regular Season Round 9: KUBS - DCU Saints 61-73

Bottom-ranked KUBS (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 73-61 loss to ninth ranked DCU Saints (3-6) in Greendale on Saturday evening. DCU Saints outrebounded KUBS 55-24 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. International center Martins Provizors (202-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Eoin Darling (186-83) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four DCU Saints players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Kevin Foley (193-83) with 28 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and American guard Jon Riles (188-92, college: Bloomsburg) scored 19 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. DCU Saints moved-up to seventh place. KUBS lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with eight games lost. DCU Saints will meet at home higher ranked UCC Demons (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KUBS will play against Belfast Star (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
