Regular Season Round 5: Pirates - Giants 83-89

Very expected game when 9th ranked Pirates (2-5) were defeated at home by second ranked Giants (5-1) 89-83 on Saturday. Giants forced 27 Pirates turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international Michael Bain stepped up and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Jeffrey Henfield (193-85, college: Tarleton St.) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Giants players scored in double figures. American Domonique Fernander (, college: Hobart) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and Tevin Hudson scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Giants keep a position of league leader, which they share with Regulators. Loser Pirates keep the ninth place with five games lost. Giants will meet at home Pros (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Pirates will play against Rockets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
