Regular Season Round 11: Aalstar - Kangoeroes 97-92

Date: December 3, 2016
The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Okapi Aalstar's (7-4) home victory over 5th ranked Kangoeroes (5-5) 97-92 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for Okapi Aalstar especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Olivier Troisfontaines (192-89, agency: LBM Management) who scored 18 points and 9 assists. Samoan-American power forward John Tofi (203-84, college: UTEP, agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Troisfontaines is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Okapi Aalstar's coach Steve Ibens used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Senegalese power forward Pape Badji (208-92) produced 21 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Wesley Channels (190-88, college: Austin Peay St.) added 15 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Okapi Aalstar moved-up to third place. Loser Kangoeroes dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Okapi Aalstar will meet Liege Basket (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kangoeroes will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut in Jemappes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
