Regular Season Round 9: Ferrara - Marghera 53-47

The game between second ranked Marghera (6-2) and fifth ranked Ferrara (5-3) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Marghera was defeated by Ferrara in a tough game in Ferrara 47-53. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 18-8. But Marghera won third quarter 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ferrara dominated on the defensive end, holding Marghera to just 7 points in second quarter. Forward Nene Diene (180-92) stepped up and scored 7 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and power forward Serena Bona (181-89, agency: SPORTlab Agency) chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Sara Toffolo (170-0) with 12 points and 7 rebounds and guard Erika Striulli (170-90) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ferrara maintains fifth place in A2 with 5-3 record. Marghera at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Ferrara are looking forward to face higher ranked Civitanova (#4) in Civitanova Marche in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Marghera will play at home against Palermo and is hoping to win this game.
