Regular Season Round 4: Aisin AW - Toyoda Gosei 76-70

Bottom-ranked Toyoda Gosei (0-6) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to sixth ranked Aisin AW (4-4) 76-70 on Sunday evening. Toyoda Gosei was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 28-19 charge of Aisin AW, which allowed them to win the game. Center Keisuke Umetsu (196-86) fired 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Kyouhei Kumazawa (180-88) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Aisin AW players scored in double figures. American center Matthew Kendrick (215-90, college: St.Leo) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and point guard Eiji Sumihiro (171-89) added 19 points and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for lost side. Toyoda Gosei's coach rotated thirteen players in this game, but that didn't help. Aisin AW maintains sixth position with 4-4 record. Loser Toyoda Gosei still closes the standings with six games lost. Aisin AW will meet higher ranked Kanazawa Sam. (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Toyoda Gosei will play against Saitama Broncos (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
