Regular Season Round 2: Al Arabi - El Jaysh 62-85

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Al Arabi (0-1) in Doha on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by El Jaysh (1-0) 85-62. The game was mostly controlled by El Jaysh. Al Arabi managed to win third quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. El Jaysh dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Al Arabi's 32. They outrebounded Al Arabi 45-32 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. El Jaysh looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Al Arabi's players. American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) stepped up and scored 30 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Fadi Hani Abilmona chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. El Jaysh's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman) responded with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. El Jaysh's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena .
