Regular Season Round 9: Villeneuve - Landes 84-51

The game between second ranked Basket Landes (6-3) and seventh ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (5-4) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Basket Landes was crushed by Villeneuve D'Ascq in Villeneuve 51-84. The game without a history. Villeneuve D'Ascq led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Villeneuve D'Ascq forced 22 Basket Landes turnovers and outrebounded them 35-22 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Villeneuve D'Ascq looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for international forward Valerianne Ayayi (184-94) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-92, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Villeneuve D'Ascq players scored in double figures. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach Frederic Dusart felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Marie-Michelle Milapie (191-96) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and international Celine Dumerc (169-82) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Basket Landes. Villeneuve D'Ascq moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Mondeville. Basket Landes at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Flammes. Villeneuve D'Ascq is looking forward to face Lyon (#9) on the road in the next round. Basket Landes will play against the league's leader Bourges (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
