Regular Season Round 9: Lattes Montp. - Flammes 78-72

An interesting game for Lattes Montpellier (7-2) which hosted in Lattes 4th placed Flammes (6-3). Third ranked Lattes Montpellier managed to get a 6-point victory 78-72. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Flammes. The hosts were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 23-16 Flammes' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 78-72 at the end of the game. Lattes Montpellier dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Flammes' 38. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. International guard Gaelle Skrela (177-83) stepped up and scored 23 points and 6 assists for the winners and the former international forward Fatimatou Sacko (177-85) chipped in 20 points and 4 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Lattes Montpellier's coach Valery Demory allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American center Alicia DeVaughn (193-91, college: Maryland, agency: Josep and Nicolas) with 18 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis (180-93, college: Connecticut) scored 20 points. Lattes Montpellier have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Flammes at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Landes. Lattes Montpellier will play against Hainaut (#11) in Saint-Amand in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Flammes will play at home against Angers (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
