Regular Season Round 20: Fujitsu RW - Toyota A. 67-73

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kawasaki. Second ranked Toyota A. faced one of their biggest challengers Fujitsu RW. Guests from Nagoya (17-1) defeated host Fujitsu RW (15-3) 73-67. It ended at the same time the 15-game winning streak of Fujitsu RW. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-18. But Fujitsu RW won second period 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toyota A. brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Guard Saki Mizushima (171-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 4 assists. Center Mori Binge (180-88) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Toyota A.'s coach Don Beck allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International point guard Mio Shinozaki (167-91) replied with 20 points and 5 assists and international point guard Rui Machida (161-93) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Fujitsu RW. Toyota A. maintains second position with 17-1 record behind leader JX-Eneos S. Fujitsu RW at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. Toyota A. will play against league's leader JX-Eneos S. in Kashiwa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fujitsu RW will play at home against Denso Iris and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
