Regular Season Round 9: Hapoel Eilat - Maccabi Ashdod 85-77

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Hapoel Eilat and 9th ranked Maccabi Ashdod had identical 3-5 record. This time Hapoel Eilat used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Ashdod 85-77. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maccabi Ashdod won third quarter 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Eilat brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. American players dominated also this game. The best player for the winners was forward Landon Milbourne (201-87, college: Maryland) who scored 18 points. Tony Mitchell (198-89, college: Alabama) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Hapoel Eilat's coach Oded Katash allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Chase Simon (198-89, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Three Eye Sports) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and Daniel Ewing (191-83, college: Duke, agency: Stealth Sport) added 17 points respectively. Five Hapoel Eilat and four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Hapoel Eilat (4-5) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Galil Gilboa. Maccabi Ashdod lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. Hapoel Eilat's next round opponent will be higher ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (#4) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#5) and hope to win that game.
