Regular Season Round 11: Nanterre - Strasbourg 73-78

Very important is a home loss of second ranked JSF Nanterre (8-3) against eighth ranked Strasbourg IG (6-5) on Monday night. Host JSF Nanterre was defeated by Strasbourg IG in a tough game in Nanterre 73-78. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of JSF Nanterre. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-13. But JSF Nanterre won second period 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Strasbourg IG won last quarter 23-19. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to JSF Nanterre's 26. It was an exceptional evening for American-FYR Macedonian Romeo Travis (201-84, college: Akron) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. International center Mouhammadou Jaiteh (208-94, agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Strasbourg IG's coach Vincent Collet used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Chris Warren (178-88, college: Mississippi) came up with 26 points and Mathias Lessort (205-95) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for JSF Nanterre in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Strasbourg IG have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser JSF Nanterre keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Pau-Lacq-Orthez and Chalon. Strasbourg IG will meet at home Hyeres-Toulon (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. JSF Nanterre will play against Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
