Regular Season Round 2: Al Riyadi - Mayrouba 106-75

The game in Beirut supposed to be also quite interesting. Mayrouba (1-1) played at the court of Al Riyadi (1-1). Al Riyadi smashed Mayrouba 106-75 on Monday. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Mayrouba's 40. Al Riyadi forced 28 Mayrouba turnovers. Strangely Mayrouba outrebounded Al Riyadi 41-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Mayrouba's players. Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (210-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 25 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and international point guard Wael Arakji (194-94) chipped in 24 points (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!) during the contest. Five Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. American center Robert Upshaw (213-94, college: Washington) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import forward John Bohannon (210-91, college: UTEP) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Riyadi will meet Louaize (#5) in the next round. Mayrouba will play against Byblos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
