Regular Season Round 10: Korikouvot - JyWe 97-71

Everything went according to plan in Kouvola where sixth ranked Korikouvot (7-3) outscored 10th ranked JyWe (3-8) 97-71 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Korikouvot. JyWe was better in third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Power forward Juuso Maenpaa (198-93) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Henri Kantonen (197-97) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side guard Aleksi Kantonen (188-95) responded with 20 points and 6 assists and forward Sami Mantymaa (193-88) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Korikouvot moved-up to fourth place in Division. Newly promoted JyWe dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Korikouvot will face Raholan Pyrkiva (#5) in Tampere in the next round. JyWe will play at home against PeU-Basket (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
