Regular Season Round 6: Petrochimi - Naft Abadan 82-87

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Petrochimi (5-1) in Bandar Imam on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by Naft Abadan (5-1) 87-82. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Petrochimi. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Petrochimi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international center Meisam Mirzaei (210-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. International Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90, agency: Three Eye Sports) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Gerald Robinson (185-89, college: Georgia) replied with 18 points and his fellow American import swingman James White (201-82, college: Cincinnati, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 13 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Petrochimi. Four Naft Abadan and five Petrochimi players scored in double figures. Petrochimi's coach Mehran Shahintab tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Naft Abadan have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Petrochimi and Azad. Naft Abadan is looking forward to face Kashan (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Petrochimi will play against Shahrdari Gorgan (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
