Regular Season Round 6: Azad - Tabriz 85-62

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Azad (5-1) crushed 5th ranked Tabriz (3-3) in Tehran 85-62 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-62. It was a good game for American swingman J.P. Prince (203-87, college: Tennessee) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import power forward Joseph Jones (206-86, college: Texas A&M) contributed with 21 points for the winners. American forward Sean Williams (208-86, college: Boston Coll.) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian forward Nikola Gacesa (206-87, college: TCU) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Tabriz. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Azad keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Petrochimi and Naft Abadan. Loser Tabriz keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Azad will face Arak (#4) on the road in the next round. Tabriz will play against Army and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
