Regular Season Round 11: PuHu Juniorit - HyPo 101-105

Very important is a home loss of first ranked PuHu Juniorit (11-2) against seventh ranked HyPo (6-6) on Wednesday night. Host PuHu Juniorit was defeated by HyPo in a tough game in Vantaa 101-105. The guests trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 62-49 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. HyPo dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to PuHu Juniorit's 38. HyPo forced 20 PuHu Juniorit turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard De'Andre Upchurch (188-91, college: Tarleton St.) who scored 35 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Ilkka Blomqvist (196-84) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Eero Sahlberg (188-90) produced 28 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Brian Moultrie (198-87, college: Armstr.Atlantic) added 13 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. HyPo maintains seventh place in Division with 6-6 record. Loser PuHu Juniorit still keeps top position with two games lost. HyPo will have a break next round. PuHu Juniorit will play on the road against Munkkiniemen in Helsinki and hope to win that game.
