Very predictable result when fifth ranked Mantova (7-4) won against 12th ranked Udine APU (4-7) in Mirandola 81-63 on Thursday. American forward DeAndre Daniels (206-92, college: Connecticut) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Swingman Alessandro Amici (200-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Mantova players scored in double figures. Forward Riccardo Castelli (200-88, agency: Players Group) answered with 14 points and Nigerian-American swingman Stan Okoye (198-91, college: VMI) added 15 points in the effort for Udine APU. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mantova moved-up to third place in A2. Newly promoted Udine APU keeps the twelfth position with seven games lost. Mantova will face Alma Trieste (#7) on the road in the next round. Udine APU will play against Bondi Ferrara (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
