There was no surprise in Stabia where 9th ranked Castellammare (3-6) was defeated by second ranked Vicenza (8-1) 59-48. The game without a history. Vicenza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Castellammare to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Castellammare 40-24 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Power forward Giuditta Nicolodi (185-95) notched 24 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Slovenian forward Tina Jakovina (183-92) supported her with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Even 14 points and 7 rebounds by American-Irish forward Fiona O'Dwyer (178-99, college: Emmanuel, MA) did not help to save the game for Castellammare. Point guard Raffaella Potolicchio (169-90) added 10 points for lost side. Vicenza maintains second position in A2 with 8-1 record having just three points less than leader Sesto SG. Castellammare at the other side dropped to the tenth place with six games lost. Vicenza's next round opponent will be Marghera (#4) in Venezia. Castellammare will play at home against Civitanova (#3) and hope to win that game.
