Regular Season Round 13: Vitebsk - Brest 116-73

Date: December 9, 2016
There was no surprise when 8th ranked Brest (2-9) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Vitebsk (5-7) 116-73. The game without a history. Vitebsk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 88 of its points in the paint compared to Brest's 38. They outrebounded Brest 57-24 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Vitebsk players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Brest's players. It was a very good performance for Russian center Marsel Ovsepyan (200-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Power forward Artur Pishchulenok (202-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Five Vitebsk players scored in double figures. Swingman Pavel Moroz (193-88) answered with 23 points and guard Anton Shchurko (188-97) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Brest. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vitebsk maintains fifth place with 5-7 record. Newly promoted Brest keeps the eighth position with nine games lost. Vitebsk will again play against Brest (#8) at home in the next round. Brest will have a break next round.
