Regular Season Round 9: Denain - Bourg 78-86

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked JL Bourg (5-4) beat on the road 7th ranked Denain Voltaire (5-4) 86-78 on Friday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-78. It was a great shooting night for JL Bourg especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. American point guard Garrett Sim (188-90, college: Oregon) stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 assists for the winners and Senegalese center Youssou Ndoye (213-91, college: St.Bonaventure) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was power forward Jerome Cazenobe (203-89) with 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Ivorian-American swingman Charles Abouo (196-89, college: BYU) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Denain Voltaire's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. JL Bourg moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Denain Voltaire. JL Bourg will face Saint Chamond (#15) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Denain Voltaire will play against JA Vichy (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
