Regular Season Round 11: JyWe - PeU-Basket 85-75

Everything could happen in Jyvaskyla at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked JyWe and 12th ranked PeU-Basket had identical 3-8 record. This time JyWe used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Pernio 85-75 on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by JyWe. PeU-Basket was better in fourth quarter 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding PeU-Basket to just 7 points in third quarter. JyWe had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Sami Mantymaa (193-88) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Aleksi Kantonen (188-95) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. American forward Tiel Daniels (200-92, college: Colorado St.) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and guard Jesse Rakkolainen (187-97) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Five JyWe and four PeU-Basket players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. JyWe (4-8) moved-up to tenth place in Division. Loser PeU-Basket keeps the twelfth position with nine games lost. JyWe will face higher ranked Espoo Basket (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. PeU-Basket will play against Raholan Pyrkiva (#6) in Tampere and hope to win that game.
