Very predictable result when third ranked Nantes (6-3) defeated at home 16th ranked SO Maritime Boulogne (2-7) 101-89 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 101-89. Nantes outrebounded SO Maritime Boulogne 33-20 including 19 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. Nantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Swingman Valentin Bigote (196-92) stepped up and scored 29 points and 5 assists for the winners and American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (200-88, college: Le Moyne) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American point guard Tyreek Duren (183-91, college: La Salle) with 16 points and 8 assists and Dutch Worthy de Jong (194-88) scored 20 points. Five Nantes and four SO Maritime Boulogne players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Nantes. They maintain third place with 6-3 record having just three points less than leader Provence Basket, which they share with Lille. Loser SO Maritime Boulogne keeps the sixteenth position with seven games lost. Nantes will face Aix-Maurienne (#13) in Aix-les-Bains in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SO Maritime Boulogne will play at home against STB Le Havre and hope to win that game.
