Regular Season Round 22: Akita NH - Toshiba BT 60-82

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Toshiba Thunders (19-3) outleveled on the road 4th ranked Akita Happinets (6-16) 82-60 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 19-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-60. Toshiba Thunders dominated on the defensive end, holding Akita Happinets to just 5 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Akita Happinets' 32. They outrebounded Akita Happinets 47-28 including a 35-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Forward Ryan Spangler (203-91, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Toshiba Thunders' coach Takuya Kita felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and Kevin Palmer (198-87, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-3 record. Akita Happinets at the other side keep the fourth place with 16 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round. Akita Happinets will play again at home against the league's leader Toshiba Thunders (#1) and hope to win that game.
