Rather predictable result when third ranked Levice (12-3) defeated at home 6th ranked Lucenec (7-9) 89-78 on Saturday. Levice made 30-of-39 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Lucenec turnovers. The best player for the winners was Bosnian power forward Igor Josipovic (205-88) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American guard Jarvis Summers (190-93, college: Mississippi) chipped in 17 points. Serbian Strahinja Stojacic (197-92) produced 23 points and 5 steals and American center Garrick Sims (203-91, college: Lake Erie) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lucenec's coach Ivan Kurilla tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Levice. They maintain third place with 12-3 record having just three points less than leader Inter Bratislava, which they share with Prievidza. Lucenec lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Levice will meet Karlovka (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Lucenec will play against Prievidza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
