Regular Season Round 12: Unicaja - Valencia 83-91

Date: December 10, 2016
The most shocking disappointment of round 12 in the Liga Endesa was a home defeat of 4th ranked Unicaja Malaga (7-4) to fifth ranked Valencia Basket (8-3) 91-83. It ended the three-game winning streak of Unicaja Malaga. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 30-21 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Valencia Basket made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Rafael Martinez (190-82) who helped to win the game recording 22 points (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!) and French point guard Antoine Diot (193-89) who added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Four Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Serbian center Dejan Musli (213-91, agency: BeoBasket) with 18 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Kyle Fogg (190-90, college: Arizona) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Valencia Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with FC Barcelona. Unicaja Malaga at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Andorra. Valencia Basket is looking forward to face league's second-placed CB Canarias in Tenerife in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Unicaja Malaga will play on the road against Movil Estudiantes (#12) in Madrid and is hoping to win this game.
