A very close game took place in Aulnoye between Reims and Aulnoye. Seventh ranked Reims (6-4) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Aulnoye (3-7). Reims managed to escape with a 3-point win 56-53 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 14-7 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Reims dominated on the defensive end, holding Aulnoye to just 7 points in third quarter. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Reims forced 23 Aulnoye turnovers. Strangely Aulnoye outrebounded Reims 34-22 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Sarah Ousfar (183-93) fired 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Montenegrin center Natasa Popovic (192-82) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Maud Medenou (189-90) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized DR Congolese forward Lorraine Lokoka (184-89) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Reims moved-up to fourth place, which they share with COB Calais and Arras. Loser Aulnoye dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Dunkerque. Reims will meet at home Montbrison (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Aulnoye will play against Dunkerque and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
