Regular Season Round 12: Mondragon - Santurtzi 56-78

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Mondragon's (4-6) home loss to sixth ranked Santurtzi (7-3) 56-78 on Saturday. The game without a history. Santurtzi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Joseba Iglesias (200-83) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds and forward Mikel Sainz (195-95) who added 12 points during the contest. Four Santurtzi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Diosdado Medizabal with 6 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Imanol Ceciaga (186-90) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santurtzi have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in Group A-A, which they share with Valladolid Univ. and Cantbasket. Loser Mondragon dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Santurtzi will face Valle de Egues (#7) in Olaz in the next round. Mondragon will play at home against the league's second-placed Ardoi and hope to win that game.
