Regular Season Round 5: Kanazawa Sam. - Aisin AW 105-67

No shocking result in a game in Ishikawa where third ranked Kanazawa Sam. (13-5) smashed 6th ranked Aisin AW (4-6) 105-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kanazawa Sam.. Aisin AW was better in fourth quarter 28-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kanazawa Sam. dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Aisin AW's 36. They outrebounded Aisin AW 42-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St.) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. Four Kanazawa Sam. players scored in double figures. Guard Kyouhei Kumazawa (180-88) produced 15 points and point guard Kei Kato (172-93) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kanazawa Sam. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Tokyo HT. Loser Aisin AW keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Kanazawa Sam. will face Tokyo Big Blue (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Aisin AW will play against Saitama Broncos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
