Regular Season Round 12: Sagunto - Almassera 81-62

Very expected game in Gilet where 10th ranked Almassera (1-9) was crushed by sixth ranked Sagunto (5-5) 81-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Sagunto. Almassera was better in fourth quarter 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sagunto dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Almassera's 20. They outrebounded Almassera 38-26 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Sagunto especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of German-Polish power forward Alexander Machowski (205-91) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and forward Roa Alcaniz (192-89) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Sagunto's coach Pau Gaya used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Hugo Rueda (183-89) with 15 points and point guard Joaquin Rodenas (186-90) scored 11 points. Sagunto moved-up to fourth place in Group E, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Almassera keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. Sagunto will have a break next round. Almassera will play at home against Benidorm (#6) and hope to win that game.
