Very expected game when 14th ranked Taranto (3-8) lost at home to eighth ranked Matera (6-5) 90-76 on Saturday. Matera shot 69.2 percent from the field. Strangely Taranto outrebounded Matera 26-13. Taranto was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for point guard Alessandro Grande (185-94, agency: Two Points) who led his team to a victory with 31 points. Point guard Gionata Zampolli (189-85) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Forward Alessandro Azzaro (197-93) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Roberto Chiacig (210-74, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Taranto. Four Matera and five Taranto players scored in double figures. Matera maintains eighth position in B with 6-5 record. Loser Taranto dropped to the thirteenth place with eight games lost.
