Regular Season Round 5: Tokyo Big Blue - Otsuka A. 64-90

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tokyo: Otsuka A. (#4) and Tokyo Big Blue (#8). Tokyo Big Blue was crushed at home by 26 points 64-90 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game without a history. Otsuka A. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tokyo Big Blue to just 7 points in first quarter. Otsuka A. held Tokyo Big Blue to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.1 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 52-34 including a 42-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tokyo Big Blue was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Ray Raymond (203-84, college: Wisconsin) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import center Joe Wolfinger (216-85, college: Citadel) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Point guard Ryota Ito (178-92) answered with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and American center Matthew Kyle (211-86, college: Yale) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Tokyo Big Blue. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Otsuka A. maintains fourth place with 10-8 record. Tokyo Big Blue at the other side keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Toyoda Gosei. Otsuka A.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Tokyo HT.
