Regular Season Round 17: Garzas - Fuerza Regia 68-75

LNBP top team - Fuerza Regia (17-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Garzas (8-10) in Plata Hidalgo 75-68. Fuerza Regia made 22-of-29 charity shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Garzas were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and American forward Andy Panko (203-77, college: Lebanon Valley, agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds. Brody Manjarres came up with 14 points and American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Garzas in the defeat. Four Garzas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fuerza Regia have an impressive series of seventeen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-0 record. Garzas lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Fuerza Regia will play against Ciudad (#9) in Ciudad Juarez in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Garzas will play at home against Abejas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
