The game in MBK Handlova was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Prievidza (12-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Handlova (6-10). Prievidza managed to secure a 5-point victory 75-70 on Saturday. Prievidza forced 21 Handlova turnovers. The best player for the winners was American point guard Reger Dowell (185-91, college: Texas Arlington) who scored 15 points. The former international Richard Korner (197-90) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian swingman Nemanja Gudzic (195-90) produced 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Montenegrin-Serbian guard Petar Despotovic (194-88, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Prievidza. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Levice. Newly promoted Handlova keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Prievidza will meet Lucenec (#6) on the road in the next round. Handlova will play against Rieker KN in Komarno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
