Regular Season Round 10: Rapla - Valga 87-59
Date: December 10, 2016
Very expected game when 6th ranked Valga (4-7) was crushed on the road by second ranked Rapla (8-2) 87-59 on Saturday. The game without a history. Rapla led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Rapla outrebounded Valga 58-34 including a 39-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Valga was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Dutch center Thomas van der Mars (208-90, college: Portland) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 20 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Puerto Rican guard Rasham Suarez (190-92, college: S.Mississippi) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Latvian guard Sandis Silavs (194-88) responded with 15 points and naturalized American forward Renato Lindments (202-84, college: Westfield St.) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Rapla have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-2 record behind leader TU/Rock. Valga lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Rapla will have a break next round. Valga will play at home against Kalev/Cramo (#3) and hope to win that game.
