Very important is a road loss of third ranked Civitanova (7-4) against tenth ranked Castellammare (4-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Civitanova was defeated by Castellammare in a tough game in Stabia 55-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Civitanova. The hosts were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 20-15 run, which allowed them to win the game. Castellammare made 21-of-26 charity shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Civitanova was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American-Irish forward Fiona O'Dwyer (178-99, college: Emmanuel, MA) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Center Lucia Di Costanzo (185-92) helped adding 15 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Veronica Perini (175-88) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and guard Silvia Ceccarelli (172-96) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Castellammare moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Fanola SML. Civitanova at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Scrivia and Crema. Castellammare will play against Fanola SML (#8) in San Martino di L in the next round. Civitanova will have a break next round.
