Regular Season Round 13: Catz - FoA 73-54

Date: December 10, 2016
The game between second ranked Forssan Alku (10-3) and fifth ranked Catz Lappeenranta (7-7) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Forssan Alku was crushed by Catz Lappeenranta in Lappeenranta 73-54. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Forssan Alku. The game was mostly controlled by Catz Lappeenranta. Forssan Alku managed to win third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Americans were the main players on the court. Chandrea Jones (177-87, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and forward Samarie Walker (185-92, college: Kentucky, agency: Two Points) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side guard Kiana Johnson (168-93, college: Virginia Union) responded with 19 points and guard Tyonna Snow (178-93, college: Missouri St.) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Kouvot. Forssan Alku at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Catz Lappeenranta is looking forward to face Espoo Team (#8) on the road in the next round. Forssan Alku will play against the league's leader HyPo (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
