Regular Season Round 13: PeKa - Kouvot 78-67

An interesting game took place in Kotka where 4th placed Kouvottaret (7-7) was upset on the court of ninth ranked Peli-Karhut (4-9) 78-67 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kouvottaret. Peli-Karhut forced 19 Kouvottaret turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Amanda Lassiter (186-79, college: Missouri) stepped up and scored 15 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners and international swingman Roosa Lehtoranta (176-97) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Whitney Frazier (180-92, college: Louisiana Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-93, college: Charleston) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. Peli-Karhut maintains ninth place with 4-9 record. Newly promoted Kouvottaret keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Peli-Karhut will face higher ranked Espoo Utd (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kouvottaret will play against Helmi Basket and hope to win that game.
