Regular Season Round 12: Gran Canaria - Zaragoza 86-82

Date: December 11, 2016
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked CAI Zaragoza's (4-7) road loss to ninth ranked Gran Canaria (6-6) 82-86. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CAI Zaragoza won fourth quarter 26-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded CAI Zaragoza 41-28 including 20 on the offensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by CAI Zaragoza helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American-Slovakian swingman Kyle Kuric (193-89, college: Louisville) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 6 rebounds. FYR Macedonian-American point guard Bo McCalebb (178-85, college: New Orleans) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. German forward Robin Benzing (208-89) replied with 17 points and 4 assists and Tongan-New Zealand forward Isaac Fotu (203-93, college: Hawaii) added 12 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) in the effort for CAI Zaragoza. Four CAI Zaragoza players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Gran Canaria maintains ninth position with 6-6 record. CAI Zaragoza at the other side keeps the tenth place with seven games lost. Gran Canaria's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked La ICL Manresa (#17) on the road and are hoping to win another game. CAI Zaragoza will play against Andorra (#6) and hope to win that game.
