Regular Season Round 12: Pielagos - Estela 60-95
Date: December 11, 2016
Very expected game in Renedo de Pielagos where 11th ranked Pielagos (3-7) was crushed by top-ranked Estela (10-0) 95-60 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Estela. Pielagos was better in fourth quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Estela dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Pielagos' 42. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Riley Stockton (192-92, college: Seattle Pacific) who helped to win the game recording 22 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and Czech center Tomas Hampl (215-88) who added 13 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Brais Gago (180-96) with 14 points and guard David Garcia (192-80) scored 12 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Estela have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A-A with 10-0 record. Loser Pielagos dropped to the tenth place with seven games lost. Estela will face Easo (#3) in San Sebastian in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Pielagos will play on the road against Valladolid Univ. (#5) and hope to win that game.
