Very important is a home loss of first ranked Toyota Alvark (17-4) against fourth ranked Kyoto Hannar. (11-12) on Sunday night. Host Toyota Alvark was defeated by Kyoto Hannar. in a tough game in Tokyo 67-71. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Toyota Alvark. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Genki Kojima (180-94) contributed with 11 points for the winners. American forward Troy Gillenwater (205-88, college: N.Mexico St.) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Toyota Alvark. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Kyoto Hannar. maintains fourth place with 11-12 record. Loser Toyota Alvark still keeps top position with four games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will face league's leader Tochigi Brex at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toyota Alvark will play against Hokkaido L. and hope to win that game.
