Regular Season Round 5: Tokyo Cinq R. - Fukuoka Rizing 67-69

Fifth-ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (7-13) made lots of trouble for first ranked Fukuoka Rizing (19-1) on Sunday. The visitors from Fukuoka managed to secure only two-point victory 69-67. However their fans expected much easier game. Tokyo Cinq R. trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 67-69 at the end of the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Tokyo Cinq R. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Takuya Komoda (190-87) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Ghanian-British forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning (205-88, college: Washington) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. Four Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. American power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven, agency: Duran International) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Brennan McElroy (201-91, college: Indianapolis, agency: Duran International) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fukuoka Rizing have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 19-1 record. Tokyo Cinq R. at the other side keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tokyo Cinq R. will play on the road against Toyoda Gosei (#9) in Aichi and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
