Regular Season Round 5: Al Khor - Qatar Club 88-89

A very interesting game took place in Al Khor. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of Al Khor (0-3) to Qatar Sports Club (2-1) 89-88 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Al Khor was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 50-48 second half run of Qatar Sports Club. Strangely Al Khor outrebounded Qatar Sports Club 45-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a good game for forward Quinton Doggett (206-90, college: Southern) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard James Justice (178-89, college: Martin Methodist) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners. Point guard Dairese Gary (185-88, college: N.Mexico) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists and Rickey Young (205-90, college: W.Virginia Tech) added 26 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Al Khor. Five Al Khor players scored in double figures. Qatar Sports Club's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha .
