Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Maccabi Rishon (6-4) defeated on the road 9th ranked Maccabi Haifa (3-7) 73-68 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-16. But Maccabi Haifa won third quarter 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Rishon forced 19 Maccabi Haifa turnovers. American-Belarusian point guard Maalik Wayns (185-91, college: Villanova) fired 25 points and 5 assists for the winners. American swingman Patrick Richard (196-90, college: McNeese St., agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. American-Mexican guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (183-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Pro Sports) produced 23 points and international forward Oz Blayzer (199-92) added 12 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks respectively for lost side. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Hapoel T-A and Bnei Hertzeliyya. Maccabi Haifa lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Maccabi Ashdod. Maccabi Rishon will meet at home league's leader Maccabi T-A in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
