Regular Season Round 10: Moycullen - UL Eagles 91-66

The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Moycullen's (3-6) home victory over 11th ranked UL Eagles (1-9) in Galway 91-66 on Sunday. They outrebounded UL Eagles 49-33 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Moycullen looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by UL Eagles' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Moycullen made 7 blocks. It was a very good performance for American forward Phillip Lawrence (201, college: Marist) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Paul Freeman (201-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Moycullen players scored in double figures. Moycullen's coach John Cunningham felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Ryan Wilson (195-88, college: William Penn) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds and French guard Jonathan Dogbo (193, college: Gannon) added 9 points in the effort for UL Eagles. Moycullen moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Belfast Star. UL Eagles lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with nine games lost. Moycullen will face higher ranked UCD Marian (#3) in Dublin in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. UL Eagles will play at home against Tralee (#6) and hope to win that game.
