Regular Season Round 5: Tokyo Big Blue - Otsuka A. 70-78

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Tokyo: Otsuka A. (#4) and Tokyo Big Blue (#8). Tokyo Big Blue was defeated at home 70-78 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-70. Otsuka A. outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 48-34 including 21 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Kyle Richardson (201-91, college: Portland St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Ray Raymond (203-84, college: Wisconsin) chipped in 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Yoshikawa Osamuakira (182-92) responded with 28 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and American center Matthew Kyle (211-86, college: Yale) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Otsuka A. maintains fourth place with 10-8 record. Loser Tokyo Big Blue keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Toyoda Gosei. Otsuka A.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Tokyo HT.
